Adeline Richter

RICHTER, ADELINE E. WATERTOWN   Adeline Esther (Schaefer) Richter, 89, passed away on August 8 at Marquardt Memorial Manor.  Adeline, a Watertown resident for 60 years, was born in rural Osseo, WI (at home) on January 1, 1927 to Henry and Louise (Seiler) Schaefer.  She graduated from Stout State University with a degree in Home Economics.  She married Harold Richter in Whitehall, WI on December 20, 1947.  She belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was active in the choir for many years.  Adeline was involved in her community including the Watertown Senior Center, Plattdeutscher Auxiliary, volunteer at Marquardt Manor, AARP Chapter 3717, and Countryside Homemakers.  She was also an avid bowler and served as league secretary for 30 years, was a member of the '600 Club', and was inducted into the Watertown Bowling Hall of Fame.  She loved to sew; making clothes for her family and, in later years, she made many beautiful quilts for overseas missions and local fundraisers.  She loved to cook and bake; making her own bread, pies, cinnamon rolls, and dozens of holiday treats every year for family and friends to enjoy.  Adeline also worked as a teacher at MATC Watertown and the public school system. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Ann Louise; son, Robert; and sister, Janice (Schaefer) Schroeder.  She is survived by her children, Ruth Ann (Rob Slotten) Miller, Jean Rusch, Lyle (Christine) Richter, Nancy (Stan) Arnold, John (Debra) Richter, Kathy (James) Moore, and Peter (Denise) Richter; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother-in-law Robert (Audrey) Richter; nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, Doris Ehnert.  She never said an unkind word about anyone. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Todd Iverson officiating.  Visitation will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. until the start of the service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Adeline's memory
