Alyce Laufenberg

October 14, 1924 — November 13, 2016

LAUFENBERG,  ALYCE  J. SUN PRAIRIE/MARSHALL    Heaven has welcomed a special angel with a beautiful smile.  Alyce Josephine (Kalscheur) Laufenberg, age 92, passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. Alyce was born on October 14, 1924 in the town of Springfield, the youngest child of John P. and Margaret S. (Doll) Kalscheur.  She attended St. John's Catholic Grade School, Waunakee and Waunakee High School until her senior year when she switched to Edgewood High School, Madison.  After graduation, she started work at the Dane County Register of Deeds Office and worked there for several years. Alyce met Anthony P. Laufenberg in 1946 at a dance after he returned from the war and they were married on June 28, 1947.  They farmed in Waunakee for a few years until they found their own farm in Marshall.  Their family continued to grow as did their farm where she worked alongside Anthony each day.  She loved her large family and created a loving home with beautiful flower beds as well as a large vegetable garden.  She was a wonderful cook and baker which her family so enjoyed.  She crocheted baby afghans for many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Holy Family Parish in Marshall where she sang in the church choir for many years.  She also worked at countless blood drives and for the Town of Medina elections for many years. Alyce is survived by her husband of 69 years, Anthony, as well as her children, Tony (Vicky), Carol (Randy) Zander, Sue Meffert, Tim (Renee), Tom (Theresa), Ted (Bridget), Alice (Dan) Allen, Joyce (Wayne) Knapton, Mary (Steve) Millin, Linda (Todd) Meffert and Todd (Darlene).  She will be missed by 28 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by Anthony's brother, Laverne (Karen) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Leonard (Helen), Eugene and a sister, Margaret (Bill) Walsh, Anthony's parents and two brothers, Raymond (Ann), Roman (Marie and Dee) and his sister, Dorothy (Joe) Walsh, as well as a special grandson, Joe Anderson.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family -St. Mary's Parish in Marshall with Father Jorge Miramontes celebrating.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.  Family and friends may call on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the church and from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday.  Online condolences may be left at svfuneralhome.com.  Hart-Vick Funeral Home of Marshall is serving the family. Memorials in her memory may be made to the Empty Stocking Club or Marshall Scholarship Foundation.  Alyce's family wishes to thank the staff at Sienna Crest, Marshall and Sun Prairie Health Care Center for the care and love provided to her.  Special thanks to the excellent staff on 7SW at St Mary's Hospital for their care, love and kindness provided to mom and the entire family.  Mom, we will love and miss you forever.
