Daniel Byron Myers, born September 3, 1943, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He lived a life defined by service, dedication to family, and an enduring appreciation for the people and experiences that shaped his journey.
Born and raised in Hermiston, Oregon, Daniel graduated from Hermiston High School in 1961 before proudly serving in the United States Air Force. During his service, he was stationed in Greenland and Madison, Wisconsin. While in Greenland, he had the memorable opportunity to see Bob Hope perform live—an experience he warmly remembered.
While stationed in Madison, Daniel worked with the Office of Information and Education, contributing to the Jet Gazette, as well as the Wisconsin State Journal and Capital Times. He was passionate about the mission of the local air base and wrote articles advocating for its importance to the Madison community. He also gave tours of the flight line, proudly showcasing the F‑102 Delta Dagger aircraft.
He often shared stories from his time in the Air Force, including encounters with leaders such as General Terrell of the 30th Air Division and General Greenfield of the NORAD region. During this time, he also worked at Stickler’s Meats, where Colonel Constock once offered him the opportunity to move to Germany as a personal meat cutter. By then, Daniel had already met Julie Theobald and chose instead to stay and build a life with her.
Their love story began with a chance meeting when he was out with friends and a couple of girls stopped by to say their friend Julie thought she knew him. They met in November, were engaged in December, and married on September 14, 1963, a union grounded in love, laughter, and family.
Daniel was honorably discharged from the Air Force in June 1965 and went on to devote his life not only to his family, but also to his community. He was active in the Marshall community, serving as a member of the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department, participating in the Jaycees, and playing an instrumental role in the foundation of Marshall EMS. He took pride in giving back and helping build something that would serve others for years to come.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julie Theobald; his parents; his stepfather; and his brothers, Tom Myers and James Myers.
He is survived by his children: Pamela Johnson, Peggy Myers, Daniel (Cheryl) Myers, Thomas (Paula Truttmann) Myers, and Timothy (Lisa Lancaster) Myers; his sister, Terri‑Lynn (Robert) Gardner; along with many grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, great -great granddaughter, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Daniel will be remembered for his quiet strength, his dedication to those he loved, and the life he built alongside Julie. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, humor, and connection—welcoming others as family and leaving behind a legacy that will live on through generations.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Charter Senior Living, whose caregivers treated him like family and provided comfort, kindness, and dignity throughout his time there. We are also deeply grateful to the staff of the Madison VA Hospital Community Living Center, who made Daniel's final days peaceful and meaningful. As a veteran, he was honored and thanked for his service by those who cared for him. Following his passing, staff members paid tribute to him with a final salute as he was escorted from their care—a moving gesture of respect that brought great comfort to his family and reflected the compassion and honor with which he was treated.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Marshall United Methodist Church in Marshall with Rev. Marty Stanton presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dan’s name to Marshall United Methodist Church or to American Legion Post #279, P.O. Box 51, Marshall, WI, 53559, would be appreciated by the family.
