David Wertschnig

WERTSCHNIG,  DAVID  J.  "Henry" WATERTOWN    David J. "Henry" Wertschnig, age 71, passed away on Thursday January 14, 2016 at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, in Milwaukee. Funeral services will be on Sunday at 3:00 PM at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Family burial will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Watertown Humane Society or the charity of one's choice. Online condolences may be left at svfuneralhome.com. David Jerome Wertschnig was born on December 27, 1944 in Fond du Lac, the son of William and Adeline (Koch) Wertschnig. He graduated from Watertown Senior High School in 1964 and served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968. Dave married the former Susan Adam on November 8, 1969 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Dave had been employed by Grinwald Ford and he retired from the City of Watertown Street Department in 2006, where he had been a heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed drag racing with his Ford Torino, during his younger years. Dave was a trap shooter, enjoyed deer, turkey, duck and goose hunting and fishing. He was a member of American Legion Post     #189 and the Watertown Conservation Club. Dave will always be remembered as a Diehard Ford Man. Dave's survivors include his wife Sue, their children Laurie (Brian) Winzenried, Brian (Philippe Girard) Wertschnig and Ashley Wertschnig, a granddaughter Jewell Rams, a sister Cathy (Bob) Lawton, mother in law Carol Adam and he is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Dick and Chuck Wertschnig and a sister in law Jeanne Klein.
