Doris G. Demeter

Watertown

Doris G. Demeter, 90 of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Jefferson Memory Care with her family by her side.

Doris was born on March 6, 1933, in Portland, OR, the daughter of Baird and Gertrude (VanWinkle) Templeton. She married Samuel Demeter and the two enjoyed many happy years together until his passing in 1998.

 Doris and Sam raised their five children in Washington and Oregon and Settled in Gresham Or. Until 1974 . They would spend time at the beach in the Pacific Northwest, Mt Hood.

Doris worked at Iron Firemen in Portland, Or., the company changed to Electronic specialties on Sandy Blvd.  She worked there until 1974 when she and Sam purchased a tavern in Raymond Wa.  They ran the business for 20 yrs.  She also worked at the Cannery in South Bend.

Doris loved to visit her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They would spend time at the beach, take trips to visit family.

In 2016 Doris moved to Wisconsin to live with her daughter Rhonda and son-in-law Joe.  They continued to travel to visit family.   Went to NY, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee.      

Her pets were her love.   She always had dogs and cats.  She took the dog(s) everywhere with her. Suzie Q, Sox my dog Rascal and will also miss her.

In the spring

Due to her advanced Dementia, Doris was moved to Jefferson Memory Care in June of 2023 until she passed away.

Doris is survived by: her children Eugene (Patti) Demeter, Allen (Christine) Demeter, Paula Kempton, Rhonda (Joseph) Vice, and Samuel (Rennetta) Demeter; sister Ada Scriber; sister-in-law Anita Templeton; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Doris is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Doris is preceded in death by: her parents Baird and Gertrude; husband Samuel; sisters Charolette, Margaret, Nellie, and Arlena; and brothers Sonny, Elmer, Carl, Donny, and Bobby  

A Celebration of Doris Life will be held on February 10th from 1-4pm at 1300 Pioneer Rd, Watertown, WI 53098
