BURNS,  EDWARD  WILLIAM LAKE MILLS  Edward William Burns, age 71 died in his home surrounded by his loving family on June 24, 2016. Throughout his courageous battle with cancer, he never complained and his main concern was always for the happiness and welfare of his family.  Son of George and Frieda (Garbrecht) Burns, Edward was born on January 17, 1945 in Elgin, Illinois.  He grew up in Lake Geneva and served in the Army during the 1964-1968 Vietnam era as a member of the American Security Agency.  He volunteered to serve in Vietnam for another soldier and was a proud man of integrity who loved his country.  Upon returning to the states, Edward completed a bachelor's degree in Business and Economics at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.Edward married Noëlle Marszalek of Lake Geneva on June 2, 1979, making this year their 37th anniversary.  He worked for University of Wisconsin-Extension in Madison until his retirement in 2008. Ed was an avid family man and his greatest joys were his daughters Amanda and Cassandra, along with his grandson Adam Edward and soon-to-be granddaughter.  He was a witty, funny, and loving father. Ed was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 67 of Lake Mills.  He loved hunting and fishing, reading, genealogy research, traveling, and spending time with his wife and family.  Edward is preceded in death by his parents, George and Frieda Burns; sister in law, Marie Burns; and brother in law, Howard Hartz. He is survived by his wife, Noëlle; their children, Amanda (Jeff) Stromback of White Bear Lake, MN and Cassandra (Jeff Schneider) Burns of Green Bay, WI; his grandson, Adam Stromback; his sister, Ruth Hartz; brother, George Burns; and several nieces and nephews.  Friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of Ed's life to be held at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 500 Welsh Road, Watertown, WI on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 4 to7 p.m.  Military honors in the form of a 21-gun salute will be performed at 5:30 p.m. with a dinner reception to follow.  Online condolences and memories of Ed can be shared at watertownwifuneralhome.com. Ed will forever be loved and missed by his family and friends.
