Elmer Moran

September 27, 1932 — July 21, 2011

MORAN, ELMER "AL" WATERTOWN With no shortage of faith and family beside him, Elmer "Al" Moran passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday July 21, 2011. Al was born on September 27, 1932 in Milwaukee, the son of Elmer and Evelyn (Kunz) Moran. Al was the loving husband to Marilyn for 54 years until her death in August 2009. Al proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He began his lifelong career as an insurance agent in 1956 with the Catholic Knights and later became an independent agent, establishing the Al Moran Agency through which he served the community and surrounding area with the highest integrity for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and Waterown Elk's Lodge #666. Al enjoyed hunting, golfing and had collected stamps since he was a young boy. He was well known for his wine making and often received fruit from his friends, many of whom then enjoyed the fruits of his labors. Al was always up for watching a Packer or Brewer game. Al is survived by his five daughters, Joyce Moran of Madison, Cathy Moran of Baraboo, Cheryl (Gary) Temple of Madison, Patricia (William) Verriden of Watertown and Teresa (Paul) Parker of Appleton; grandchildren Grace and Gabriel Stauffacher, Taylor, Sydney and Jack Temple, Jennifer (Kyle) Heimerl, Laura, Brooke and Rebekah Kallstrom and Lee parker, great grandchildren Nevaeh, Iverson, Gavin, Ezrah and Miles. Al is further survived by a sister Mary Ann Moran of Pewaukee, brother in laws Dale Huhti of Watertown and Russ Huhti of Greenland, Michigan, along with numerous special nieces, nephews and friends. He is further preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gerald Moran. A celebration of Al's life will be held on Tuesday at Noon at St. Henry Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Wilk officiating. Burial will be in St. Henry Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family. Online condolences may be left at watertownwifuneralhome.com. As his daughters it was a gift for each of us to be able to honor dad's wish to spend his last days in the home he dearly loved. It would not have been possible without the compassionate support of the wonderful staff of Rainbow Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rainbow Hospice or St. Henry Catholic Church. With his words of wisdom to guide us and our memories of him held close to our hearts we find comfort in knowing our parents are together again.
