Gertrude Peirick

PEIRICK,  GERTRUDE  A.WATERTOWN    Gertrude A. Peirick, age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 15, 2016 at Rainbow Hospice Care. Gertrude A. Byrne was born in Watertown on December 19, 1924, the daughter of Raphael and Frances (Paulik) Byrne. Gert graduated from Watertown High School in 1944. On September 29, 1951, she married Clarence Peirick at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown. Together they took over his family farm in Lebanon and farmed until their retirement in 1986, when she and Clarence moved to Watertown. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul in Watertown for over 30 years. Gert enjoyed music, playing Bingo with her neighbors at Highland Senior Apartments, and hearing tales of her grandchildren's adventures. Gert is survived by a son Donald (LuAnn) of Lebanon; six daughters, Jean (David) Braun of Livermore, CA, Ann of Milwaukee, Carol (Michael Rodriquez) of Middleton, Lois (Lee) Weyers of New Berlin, Irene (Michael) Steinl of Waunakee and Julie (Bryan) Wood of Wauwatosa, eleven grandchildren; and a sister Mary (Robert) Noon of Watertown. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, a sister Rose Burke and a brother John Byrne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday December 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Henry Catholic Church with Father Alex Carmel Celebrating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Memorials may be directed to St. Henry Catholic Church, Rainbow Hospice, St. Vincent de Paul or the charity of ones choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Rainbow Hospice for their care and compassion. They extend their deepest gratitude to Barbara (Peirick) Patchett for her four years of dedicated service as care giver, chauffer, shopper, counselor and consultant, allowing Gert to live independently.
