Harriet Herde

HERDE,  HARRIET  M. WATERTOWN    Harriet M. Herde, age 87, passed away on Monday September 21, 2015 at UW hospital in Madison. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Allen Bergmann of Watertown Moravian Church officiating. Online condolences may be left at svfuneralhome.com. Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family. Harriet Mae Gruel was born on October 27, 1927  in, Watertown, the daughter of Harry and Loella (Brose) Gruel. She graduated from St. Mark's Grade School and Watertown High Senior High School, class of 1945. On October 1, 1949, she married Alfred Herde at the Watertown Moravian Church.Harriet was a member of Watertown Moravian Church and the Church Women. She had been employed by the former Dairyland CO-OP, Hevi-Duty and Kotwitz Surge and Electric. She drove for Meals On Wheels, after her retirement.  Survivors include her husband Al Herde, a brother Allen Gruel of Arizona, two nieces Doreen and Connie, special friends Karen, Jeff, Alissa and Scott Small, other relatives and friends. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Eugene Gruel. Al wishes to thank all his neighbors for their caring and generosity during Harriet's illness.
