Helen R. Hart, age 88, of Marshall, passed away at home on Friday, January 6, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 22, 1928, in Lake Mills, the daughter of Walter R. and Ruth (Strasburg) Crossman. Helen graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1946 and was proud to be crowned the only "Miss Lake Mills". On May 17, 1952, Helen married Charles Hart, and they celebrated 64+ years of marriage together. She and her husband owned and operated Hart's Home Furnishings and Funeral Home for 35 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed golfing, knitting, sewing, quilting, and travelling to Sebring, Florida, during the winter months, but most of all spending time with her family. Helen is survived by her husband, Charles, and 3 daughters: Cindy (Terry) Auchtung, Sally (David) Waddell, and Terri (Jeffrey) Wilke. Lovingly called "Granny", she is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Tamara (Paul) Poppert, Jeramie (Heather) Auchtung, Heather (Matthew Peters) Gonwa, Tiffany (Joshua) Howell, Danielle (Jim) Burnham, Skyla (Brandon) Witkowski, and Jaden Wilke. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Tanner and Madison Poppert, Savannah and Trinity Auchtung, and Wyatt and Wilton Howell; a sister Margery Crossman, a brother Walter J. "Bud" Crossman, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Harriet Crossman; a granddaughter Dana Waddell and a grandson in infancy. Funeral services will be held at the Marshall United Methodist Church on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., Pastors Edwin Vargas and Heidi Loomis officiating. Friends may call at the Hart-Vick Funeral Home in Marshall from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Medina Cemetery.
