Joan Cantwell

Joan Cantwell, 84, of Ixonia, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Watertown Regional Medical Center.

Joan was born October 20, 1939 near Owen, WI the daughter of Edward and Josephine Sluzewski Sr. Joan married David Cantwell on August 1, 1964.  Joan taught English and Journalism at Oconomowoc High School for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Johnson Creek. She was an active volunteer and board member at St. Vincent DePaul in Watertown for many years. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include: daughters; Julie (John) Ganster and Jamie (Billy) Hombsch; grandchildren; Emily Eppler, Jack (Katrina Wilson) Eppler, Willow (Chris) Stewart, Turner (Tegan) Hombsch, Avery (Nick Gallitz) Hombsch, Owen (Kyran) Hombsh and Ralph Hombsch; great grandchildren Elsie Stewart and baby Stewart, Fall 2024.  She is also survived by brother Dr. Edward (DeEtta) Sluzewski Jr, numerous other relatives, friends, and neighbors. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four siblings. If desired, memorials in Joan’s honor may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Watertown

Visitation will be held at the Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home in Watertown on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 11AM- 12:30 PM. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:30 PM.
