John Kaercher

John Fredrick Kaercher, went home to his Lord on Wednesday May 23, 2018. John was born on January 17, 1935, in Watertown, to Lester and Edna (Worden) Kaercher. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1953 and attended Milton College. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church looking forward to joining his congregation for worship each Sunday. John enjoyed a long career at Dresser Motors (Waukesha Motors) until his retirement. He was an avid photographer, capturing memories from numerous family trips, including trips out west to a Dude ranch in the Dakotas, and visits to Hawaii with Lester and Edna. John aided in the care of his parents until their passing. John was especially proud to serve in the U.S. Army and his time deployed with NATO forces in Bonn, Germany. He shared a love of golf with his father Lester. He was a dedicated collector, with an impressive collection of model cars, coins and stamps. John was Civil War buff, visiting many civil war battle fields. He certainly had a sense of humor, was quick with a joke or witty quip and loved to make people smile. John is survived by his sister and brother-in law Lois and Ronald Kagel, of Midland, MI and his nieces, Jennifer (Ted) Bukowski from PA, Katy (Jack) Leins, and Sharon Calkins, both of Midland, MI. He is also survived by 5 great nieces and nephews, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Edna Kaercher. Services to celebrate John's life will be held at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Todd Iverson officiating.
