John J. "Jack" McFarland

John J. McFarland “Jack” “Max”, 79, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Madison.

Jack was born on November 19, 1946, in Burlington, Wisconsin, the son of Peter and Helen (Reesman) McFarland. He proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1966-1968. He married the love of his life Connie Cassidy on June 24, 1967, in Watertown and the couple enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage. Jack was a member of the Watertown American Legion. Jack’s Grandsons were among his greatest joys. He loved cheering them on at their activities, celebrating their accomplishments, and simply spending time with them. Above all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Jack is survived by his wife Connie, children Michelle (Dan) Bergman, Katie (Dan) Kuehl, Patrick (Monica) McFarland, grandchildren Jordan (Ashley) Bergman, Alex Bergman, Ryan Bergman, Jonathan Kuehl, Chris Kuehl, Carson Kuehl, and Buck. He is further survived by his siblings Patricia (Nick) McFarland-Bokas, Peggy (Steve) Hardie, Maureen Lloyd, and sister-in-law Patricia Polensky. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis McFarland, mother and father-in-law Romy and Roberta Tischler, and brothers-in-law David Lloyd, Michael Cassidy, and Bill Polensky.

Per Jack’s wishes the family will gather for a private memorial.
