John Roethle

John A. Roethle, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 at Heritage Homes at the age of 86. He was born on July 19, 1925 in Rubicon, Wisconsin, the son of Fred and Angeline (Hetzel) Roethle. John was united in marriage to Grace Schroedl on January 15, 1951; she preceded him in death in 2009. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He later worked as a truck driver for Allard Express in Watertown for many years. After retirement, he looked after several elderly widows who needed assistance with a variety of day to day activities. John was a member of American Legion Post 189 and St. Henry Catholic Church. He enjoyed working in his yard, and loved playing cards in a card club, especially Sheepshead. John is survived by his children: Sandy (Tom) Werner of Watertown, Fred (Jean) Roethle of Watertown, Pat (Gary) McFatridge of Bishop, Texas, and Joe (Linda) Roethle of Green Bay; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Dolores Cosentino of Watertown and Margaret Salmon of Sheboygan Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; daughter, Mary; 2 brothers: Robert and Ralph; 2 sisters: Mary Roethle and Sally Becker; and his parents. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown, with Msgr. Daniel Ganshert presiding. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30am until the time of Mass at the church. Burial will follow at St. Henry Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.
