Lydia Valdez

Lydia A. Valdez, age 80 of Watertown passed away Tuesday April 25, 2017, at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown. She was born on January 9, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois to John and Amparo (Mariscal) Ramos. She married Raymond Valdez on June 18, 1955, in Chicago; together they raised their three children. Lydia was a record keeper at Dun and Bradstreet prior to moving to Wisconsin in 1974. She then focused on raising her three children. Then later assisted with raising her grandchildren. Lydia was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown. A fun and loving mother and grandmother she always put her family first. She loved to cook, and she and Raymond enjoyed going dancing. Lydia was a former Senior Regent and Junior Graduate Regent of the Watertown Women of the Moose. Raymond and Lydia were happily married for 60 years. She will be deeply missed by her family; husband and love of her life Raymond Valdez of Watertown, Children; Raymond H. (Tracy) Valdez of Watertown, Valerie (Mark) Frye of Watertown, Antoinette (Jeff) Carruthers of Cottage Grove. 5 grandchildren Krysten, Raymond T., Abbigail, Paige and Quinten. 3 great grandchildren Brittaya, Brielle and Noah. Sisters Gracie Gabriel of South Chicago Heights, IL, Rachael Suarro of Plano, TX, Veronica (Ted) Milos of Lincolnwood, IL. Brothers John (Cathy) Ramos of Chicago, IL, John (Fay) Ramos of Chicago, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church with the Rev. Alex Carmel officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Watertown and then again on Monday morning at the Church from 10:00- to the time of the service.  The family would like to thank the caring staff at UW Hospital Madison who took such wonderful care of our mother, along with the caregivers at Marquardt.
