Mary J. Boden of Watertown passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the age of 79.
Mary Jane Boden was born on September 15, 1946, in Watertown, to Carl JR. Grunewald and Viola A. (Weber) Grunewald.
Mary’s greatest joy was her family, especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always remembered her siblings’ birthdays and sent them a card. For her kid’s birthdays, Mary would always give a pie or a cake. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when her children needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. Mary was a true friend to many. She cherished her time spent with her friends, whether it was going site seeing or just small trips together.
Mary was employed at Watertown Metals, and Karma and Eaton until she retired. She was a devoted member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church where she faithfully attended services. Mary was also a member of the Watertown Senior Center. Her hobbies included visiting family, attending parades, playing bingo, going to movies, clothes shopping, and Wii Fit Bowling at the senior center.
Mary is survived by: her children Kevin (Kim) Grunewald of Sun Prairie, Lisa (Scott) Koellen of Johnson Creek, Julie (David) Lea of Johnson Creek, and Holly Cramer of Watertown; grandchildren Amy, Patience, Kevin Lee, Joshua, Timothy, Tyler, Benjamin, Colby, Owen, Jaden, Brandon, Cody, Emily, and Riley; great- grandchildren William, Aiden, and Kinsley; brother Donald (Linda) Grunewald of Cambridge; sisters Elizabeth Grunewald, Karen (John) Block), and Carolyn Henze, all of Watertown. Mary is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brother Ronald Grunewald, niece Cindy Grunewald, and brother-in-law Jim Henze.
The family would like to thank Brighton Hospice for their care and being so compassionate towards Mary, as well as the staff of Jefferson Memory Care for the loving care provided to Mary.
