Mary Hale

Mary Ellen Hale (nee' Chingway), of Watertown, passed away early morning of May 1st, 2019, at the age of 67. Born September 19, 1951 to parents Anthony M and Margaret P Chingway. Mary attended St Henry's elementary school in Watertown through eighth grade and graduated from Watertown High School in 1969. Mary was known for her athleticism as a young girl, frequently spending time roller skating, cheerleading, swimming and playing softball at Riverside Park. Mary was an enrolled member of the Bad River band of Ojibwe. She spent many summers visiting family on the reservation as a child, and has many cousins that continue to live in Odanah. After 25 years of service, Mary retired from the booking keeping department at the Bank of Lake Mills, Lake Mills, Wisconsin. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jeffrey, of Watertown, Wisconsin; her sister Kathleen (William) Bailey of Madison Wisconsin; two children, Emma/Jessica (Curtis) Blackthorne Yuba City CA, and Derek (Shannon) Hale Oconomowoc Wisconsin. Mary is also survived by grandchildren Anthony, Gage, Jonathan, Mariela and Madeline. Mary is further survived by her mother, Margaret (Eicksteadt ) Chingway Watertown Wisconsin, along with many cousins, uncles and aunts. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. She is remembered as being exceptionally selfless; always putting others first. She was a compassionate woman who was dedicated to her family.
