NEIS, MARY M. OREGON/JEFFERSON Mary M. Neis, age 65, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 3, 2011 at Fort Memorial Hospital. Mary was born on December 8, 1945 in Platteville, the daughter of William and Mary Emily (Kaiser) Hartlip. On October 2, 1965 she married William R. Neis, Jr. in Platteville, he preceded her in death on January 1, 1992. Mary had been employed as a nurse and social worker by Dane County Human Services. She was an active member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints in Madison. She was a former president of the Oregon Womens Club. Mary loved to bake, garden, camp, fish and travel. She enjoyed being with family and friends for special occasions. Survivors include her daughters Dawn Johnson of Jefferson; Susan Neis of Evanston, IL; Tamara (Teague) Higgins of Downingtown, PA; Heidi (Josh) Neis of Idaho Falls, ID; and Erica (Greg) Stommel of Grand Junction, CO, grandchildren Tanner, William, Jacob, Samantha, Liam, Gabriel, McKenzie, McKayla, Abbie and Logan; a sister Carolyn Armstrong of Huntington, NY; brothers and sisters in law James (Bernadine) Neis of Nags Head, SC; John (Maryanne) Neis and Jeannie Burbach of Woodland Park, CO, also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be on Tuesday March 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home 500 Welsh Road Watertown, with Bishop Gary Hutchinson officiating. Burial will be in St. Isadore Cemetery in Clyman. Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorials to Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association, would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at watertownwifuneralhome.com.
