Robert H. Novotny, Sr.

The family of Robert Henry Novotny, Sr. of New Holstein, wishes to announce his unexpected peaceful passing, on Thursday May 22, 2025. Even more, we wish to tell you about our “Pops”, “Grandpa”, “Papa”, “Sr.”, “Peep”.

Bob was born January 23, 1958 in Watertown, WI, son of John and Peg (Surdick) Novotny. He attended St. Henry’s Catholic Grade School, where 3 of his grandsons attend this day. He graduated from Watertown Senior High School in 1976.

Bob worked in maintenance at the Watertown Memorial Hospital for 18 years, where he made many friends and met his “Peep” Nancy (Vandervest) Novotny. Many can remember the good ole days of a young Bob enjoying motorcycle rides, work & family parties & showing off his talent for karaoke.

In 1994, Bob and his young family moved to Glenbeulah and then New Holstein. Bob also resided and made friends in Kiel. He ran B&N Lawn Care from 1995-2023 and was very proud of his business. He always had a great work ethic. Bob was also an incredible cook. We will miss many dishes especially his Chili, Grilled Tenderloin, Tuna Casserole, Porcupine Meatballs, and “Papa Cakes”. He was a fan and collector of anything John Wayne, enjoyed car shopping, creating nicknames for others, and spending time with his canine buddy of 8 years, Cupcake. As a family we enjoyed attending the Sheboygan County Fair each year. We recently gathered for family events this month, allowing us to be together one last memorable time.

Bob’s loved ones include his “Peep” Nancy Novotny, his children: Jennifer “Lil Miss” (Kevin "Big K") Cardinal, Robert “Binky” H. (Emily) Novotny, Jr., and Tracy “Witsobee” (Jessica) Novotny; one granddaughter, Andree “Deedle” Cardinal; six grandsons, Noah “Noey” and Eli “Eebee” Cardinal, R. Hank Novotny III, Tommy and Luke Novotny and Jonathan Novotny.

Bob’s siblings: Rose (Fred) Zastrow, Mary Blaisdell, Grace (Ed) Wegner, John (Lorrie) Novotny, Rich (Renee) Novotny, and Ed Novotny. He also has many nieces and nephews and other loved ones on the Novotny and Vandervest sides, as well as his loving Godmother Virginia Kaercher.

Bob was preceded in death by his Parents, his sisters Catherine and Linda, and brother “Big Joe”.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home located at 500 Welsh Rd. in Watertown, with Rev. Ray Bezanson presiding. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 2-4pm with the service following at 4pm. There will be a time during the service in which we welcome friends and family to share your favorite memory of Bob with us all.
