Robert Richter

Robert J. "Bob" Richter of Watertown, age 80, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Marquardt Health Center. He was born on May 16, 1935 in Watertown, the son of Herbert and Leana (Meitner) Richter. Bob was a farmer in the town of Emmet. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Catholic Knights, AARP and the Watertown Senior and Community Center. Bob married Elaine Hassler on February 5, 2005 at St. Bernard Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Hassler; nephew, Pat (Elsa) Richter and their children, Brandon (Inoha) and Belinda Richter; niece, Christine Richter; nephew, John Richter; step-children, David (Barb) Hassler of Milwaukee, Jim (Marilyn) Hassler of Elk, WA, Julie (Steve) Saniter of Watertown, Perry Hassler of Eagle, Penny (Tim) Hargraves of Conover and Stewart (Dee) Hassler of Lake Mills; 13 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren; 4 brothers-in-law, Wayne Sondgeroth of Thorp, Leon (Irene) Sondgeroth of Mendota, IL, Paul (Yvonne) Sondgeroth of Mendota, IL, Laurence (Barb) Sondgeroth of Mendota, IL and Paul Joerger of Mendota, IL; 3 sisters-in-law, Helen Lenz of Monona, Sister Dorothea Sondgeroth of Jackson, MI and Wilma Sondgeroth of Bolingbrook, IL; numerous other nieces and nephews; brother, Jim (Shirley) Richter of Watertown; sister, Delores Richter of Watertown; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Baldeschwiler and Margaret Joerger and brothers-in-law, Delbert Sondgeroth and Roland Sondgeroth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11 am with Father Patrick Wendler presiding. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am until the time of Mass. Private burial will be held at a later date at St. Henrys Cemetery.
