LACEY,  ROY  T. DOUSMAN/LAKE MILLS    Roy T Lacey, age 97, passed away on Sunday February 22, 2015 at Three Pillars in Dousman. A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel at Village On The Square 375 Highway 67 Dousman, WI 53118. Family and friends may call at the chapel from 1:30 PM to the time of the service. Family burial will be in Canada. Online condolences may be left at svfuneralhome.com. Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home of Watertown is serving the family. Roy Thorn Lacey was born on June 3, 1917 in Thornbury, Ontario, Canada, the son of Frank and Edith (Thorn) Lacey.  He served in the Canadian Army during WWII. In August of 1947, Roy married the former Maybelle Pringle at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Napanee, Ontario, she preceded him in death. Roy attended grade school and high school in New Market, Ontario.  Following graduation, Roy worked at the Wright - Hargraeves gold mine in Kirkland Lake, Ontario to save for university.  He graduated from the University of Toronto as a chemical engineer.  After serving in the military and marriage, Roy and Maybelle moved to New York City to attend brewing school and then Montreal.  In 1951 they moved to Lake Mills and Roy was employed by Ladish Malting Company where he helped grow the business into the world's largest malting plant under one roof until his retirement in 1983.  He later came out of retirement and traveled throughout Russia to help critique malting plants for a private business.  Roy was a rock hound and he enjoyed gardening, skiing, ice skating and travel. Roy is survived by his sister Mary Ward, children Virginia (Frank) Wolkenheim and Erik (Debbie) Lacey, three grandchildren, Andy Grinwald, Scott Lacey, Laura Lacey, many nieces and nephews in Canada, and friends. Roy's family wishes to thank all the health care workers at Riverside Lodge, Three Pillars Senior Living Community and Allay Hospice, for their compassionate care.
