Russell Weber

Russell Hugo Weber, 93, of Watertown, passed away on> Saturday, July 28, 2018. The Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family. Russ was born on November 24, 1924 in Milwaukee, to Hugo and Martha Weber. After high school, Russ entered the army in February, 1943, as an automotive mechanic in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Arrowhead and Good Conduct Medal before being discharged in January of 1946. On June 7, 1947, he married Betty Lorenz in Wauwatosa, WI. They had three children, Cindy, John and Cathy. After Betty's death, Russ married Marlene Kolander on February 7, 2004, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Watertown, gaining a dear step daughter, Kathleen. In 2009, Russ had the privilege of taking the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight to Washington D.C., an experience he never forgot. He was honored to be a recipient of the Red Quilt of Valor in March of 2017, by the Quilts of Valor Organization. Russ is survived by his wife, Marlene and children, Cindy Clenard of Hoffman Estates, IL, John (Pam) Weber, of Thiensville, Cathy (Phil) Neidner of Waterloo and step-daughter, Kathleen Kolander of Watertown. He is further survived by 7 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, sister Alpha Mae Townsend, brother Monte Jack Weber and son-in-law, Lance Clenard. A memorial service for Russ will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Watertown, with the Reverends Anthony Schultz and Justin Cloute, officiating. The visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M and continue until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M. Following the service will be Military Honor Guard and burial at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Memorials may be made to the family, St. Luke's Lutheran Church or The Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.watertownwifuneralhome.com.
