KUBLY, RUTH A. WATERTOWN Ruth Audrey (Wegwart) Kubly passed into the loving arms of Jesus on August 2, 2011 surrounded by her devoted family. She passed away after a brief illness and surgery. She maintained the same courage and dignity in facing death that she had displayed throughout her entire life. Ruth was born September 6,1927 in Hustisford, WI to Edgar and Martha Wegwart. She had one sister and two brothers. After graduating from Hustisford High School in 1945, she worked in New York city and Nashville before returning to live in Wisconsin. Ruth first met her husband to be, Ray, at a local dance when she was 14 years old. The two were married seven years later on Sept 4, 1948 at St. John\'s Lutheran Church in Woodland, WI. They lived in Madison for several years where Ray was finishing at UW. They then lived in several Minnesota towns and Iowa before returning permanently to Watertown in 1959. Ruth was an active member of the Watertown community, and she volunteered her considerable skills for the benefit of others. She volunteered at Douglas Elementary School, served as a board member of the Watertown Education Foundation, and was a member of the Reserve Officer Association for Ladies. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for over 50 years, Ruth worked in several different ministries and especially enjoyed making quilts to send to impoverished people overseas. She was an outstanding seamstress and knitter, and she delighted friends and family members with her wonderful clothing creations. Ruth devoted her life to the betterment of others starting with her four children, Roger, Joan, Carol, and Mary. She was such a joy to all who knew her. Her love for people was a blessing that she brought into every relationship. She got along with people of every age, and she used her positive attitude and enthusiasm to encourage and uplift everyone from babies to seniors. Through the years she developed many recreational interests including dancing, gardening, golf, cross-county skiing, bowling and cards. She enjoyed travel with family and friends to many parts of the world, cruising with her family and annual trips with her children. Ruth was never reluctant to try adventurous activities including downhill skiing, hot air ballooning, and even snuba diving in the Bahamas at age 81. She is survived by children Roger (Martha) Kubly of Wis. Dells, Joan (Robert) Wilkinson of Boulder, Co. Carol (Brad) Scott of Vernal, Utah, and Mary Held of Watertown. Grandchildren: Ryan (Amy ) Kubly and baby Lyla Mae, Mara (Barry) Thompson and baby Adalyn, Jeff Kubly, Michael Wilkinson, Co, Kate (Shawn Harrison), Jenny Held and Allison Held. Brother: Phil Wegwart, Downieville, Ca, Sisters in laws, Loraine (Uttech) Kubly, and Lillian (Kubly) Tvedt and brother in law Ernie (Jeanette) Kubly of Oconomowoc and Florida. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. Last, but most importantly, she was surrounded by just the best friends and her children are most grateful to all of you. She is preceded in death by her sister, Marvy, her brother Gordon, and her husband of 59 years, Ray, who passed away in 2008. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Evangelical Church in Watertown, With Rev Terry Larson officiating. Visitation will be at the Church starting at 9:30. Burial of cremains will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery of Watertown on Saturday at 4:00 PM. Schmutzler -Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family.
