Jefferson - Sergeant First Class Michael P. Vandre, age 64, passed away at his home on Friday, November 11, 2011. He was born on June 11, 1947 in Fort Atkinson, son of Claire (Anderson, Schiller/Czyewski, Vandre) Hedding and Matthew Schiller/Czyewski and Ralph Vandre. He was a graduate of Fort Atkinson High School, class of 1965. Viet Nam Combat veteran 1966 - 1968; 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry, "Old Guard," attached to the 11th Light Infantry Brigade. Americal Division, Chu Lai and Duc Pho, South Viet Nam. Retired United States Army Recruiting Command, regular army and army reserve recruiter, 1976 - 1993 Milwaukee District. Former Career Business Mail Technician for the Post Office in Waterloo, WI. District Mail Piece Analyst, eventually becoming a manager in charge of Business Entry at the Main Postal Facility in Madison, WI. Life member: The Old Guard Association, VFW Post 1879 & Chapter 39 Disabled American Veterans, Fort Atkinson, WI. Member Masonic Lodge #30, Wausau, WI. Past President, Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Watertown, WI. Survived by his wife Frances A. (Ziehr) Vandre of 35 years. Grandson of Mildred (Roemer) Anderson and Edith (Schaffer) Vandre. [Deceased]. Brothers: David (Gwen) Vandre and Randy/Toby Vandre and special friend Hoa Vo. Children: Chad (Melinda) Vandre and grandsons. Matthew (Carolyn) Vandre and grandchildren. Nicholas (Daena) Vandre and granddaughter. Many nieces, nephews, friends & several Schiller/Czyewski cousins in Illinois. A memorial service will be held at the Watertown Elks Lodge, 117 N. 1st Street Watertown, WI 53094 on Saturday November 19th, 2011. 1pm reception, 2pm memorial service, 3-5pm fellowship.
