Shirley J. Carter

Shirley J. Carter, 86 of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center of Johnson Creek.

Shirley was born on April 6, 1939, in Brainerd, MN, the daughter of Archibald and Bertha (Sohns) Cleveland. Shirley had a passion for dogs, especially her faithful Gingi.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Sheryl (Paul) Marshall, grandchildren Christopher Marshall, Tiffany (Mike) Stark and Leah Karstens, great-grandchildren Gavan Stark, Kolton Stark, and Alexander Marshall, and sister Julia Checkai. Shirley is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Leona, Bernice, and Gerald.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Watertown Humane Society in Shirley’s name would be appreciated by the family.
