In loving memory of Thomas J Cunningham

August 14, 1953 - December 20, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas J Cunningham, a beloved father, loving grandfather, and devoted friend. Thomas, born on August 14, 1953, left this world on December 20, 2023, surrounded by family and wonderful friends. He was born August 14, 1953, to Arthur and Jane (Tuhey) in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Tom was a man of heart and humor. He was known for telling a story even if you had already heard it many times. Most known for saying "Have I told you this story before". Even if you said yes you got to hear the story again. So many of his stories made you laugh while some of the best were truly heartwarming.

Tom grew up in the Milwaukee area. He lived over the years in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Carolina as a traveling sales manager in the print industry. Tom came back home to Wisconsin to be near his daughters and their families. Tom is survived by daughters, Corinne Cunningham, Margaret (Andy) Palen, and Emilie (Jim) Canales; grandchildren Carley and Jakob Doughty, Braden Taylor, Lance, Trenton, and Ethan Gebert, Cole Zoellick, and Ferris Palen; 2 great-grandchildren; brother Jack; sisters, Maureen (Jim) Kowal, Miriam (Jeff) Block, Meg Cunningham, Mary (George) Zalecki, and Katie Clary, and nieces and nephews. Also survived by unwavering best friends Ed Erickson, Marcy Sheets, Pete and Bonnie Fallabeck, and Colleen Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Russell Clary, and sister-in-law Linda Cunningham.

When Tom wasn't telling a story he was creating them while hunting deer or pheasants in South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. He also golfed as much as he could. As a father and grandfather, he attended countless concerts, plays, and sporting events, frequently taking on the role of football announcer, chauffeur, or cheering squad! Whether spending time with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, or pursuing his favorite pastimes, he embraced life with a spirit that befriended those around him. On numerous occasions, God put him in the right place at the right time to help a stranger in need or take care of a family member or friend. He always said he was raised right and reflected that by doing right for others.

A celebration of life to honor Tom will be held on January 14th, 2023 from noon to 4:00 pm, at Milford Hills in the Hideaway room. Friends and family are invited to join in commemorating the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many and is dearly missed. Please RSVP as soon as possible to Corinne at 920-988-7180 or corcunningham@gmail.com.

A favorite thing Dad said, "Honey, they say the Luck of the Irish, they don't say The Good Luck of the Irish."
